The Villains Theatre is looking to hire an actor who identifies as part of the blind or vision loss communities for the following role in our 2021 production of Observatory Mansions, adapted and directed by Dan Bray:
Anna Tap (20-40, female) is kind, extroverted, and keenly interested in the lives of those around her. She possesses a dry wit and speaks frankly and clearly at all times. Anna suffers from a condition similar to glaucoma, and she loses her sight over the course of the play. Performers of all genders who are interested in playing a female character are encouraged to apply.
Observatory Mansions is a theatrical adaptation of the novel by Edward Carey. A synopsis of the book can be found here.
Interested parties should send an expression of interest along with a current photo of yourself and a resume or description of any past performance experience to firstname.lastname@example.org. You will be sent a section of the script to prepare in a video audition format. Timing of video auditions are flexible and can be arranged at a time that is convenient to you.
Pending the COVID-19 situation and advisories at the time, we will be holding a workshop from March 13-14 2021. Rehearsals will run March 22 – April 18, and the production week will take place April 19 – 25 2021. This will be a production using the Canadian Actor’s Equity Association Dance/Opera/Theatre policy, and both Equity members and non-members are encouraged to apply. Performers will be paid no less than $620/week. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out to email@example.com or call 902 406 6262.
