The Villains Theatre is turning our performance of Observatory Mansions into a virtual event for the safety of our team and audiences.

Our virtual on-demand performance will be available from the evening of Sunday April 25 until Sunday May 2 at 11:45pm. This performance will have integrated ASL interpretation and options for described audio and closed captioning: https://www.tickethalifax.com/events/111256983/observatory-mansions

The performance was recorded on April 21, 2021, at DANSpace in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, Nova Scotia. It was a dress rehearsal run with our first camera tests and a small audience of team members and family. As COVID-19 cases spiked in our region in the days leading up to the show’s opening, our team could no longer gather safely in our performance space to record the final production or present it to a live audience. However, we believe that overall this dress rehearsal recording is a good reflection of the show.

For those who had tickets to the live performance, your tickets have been switched to the virtual show. If you would prefer a refund rather than a virtual ticket, we would be happy to process that for you – please email hello@villainstheatre.com.

ABOUT THE SHOW:
Based on Edward Carey’s celebrated 2000 novel, Observatory Mansions centres on a group of recluses living alone together in an ancestral home-turned-slum building. A new tenant’s unexpected arrival ushers in an age of upheaval, forever altering the estranged residents and bringing forbidden secrets to light. Against a backdrop of decay, isolation, and urban development, the story explores the weight of memory, the struggle for human connection, and the potential of transformation.
